Turtle Lake Tbilisi — forest climb through Vake Park Kus Tba lake shore above Tbilisi

Kus Tba — Turtle Lake — sits at 687 metres above Tbilisi, hidden inside a dense forest just 6 km from the city centre. This is where locals actually go on weekends; tourists almost never find it. The ride climbs through the upscale Vake district and its enormous 200-hectare park, gaining 217 metres of elevation before breaking out of the tree line at the lake. At the top, a full loop around the shoreline awaits — accessible to all levels, from a relaxed lakeside cruise to a faster MTB-style lap through the forest trails. The descent is fast, long, and completely satisfying.

Tour Highlights

  • Vake Park climb — one of Tbilisi's great green lungs, past cascade fountains, a WWII memorial, and open-air cafes tucked under the trees
  • Turtle Lake arrival — a pristine mountain lake fed by the Varaziskhevi river, circled by thick forest and almost completely quiet
  • The lake loop — a 1 km shoreline ride with mountain views, ducks on the water, and lakeside bars if you want to stop
  • Vake Cable Car — 1,140 metres of gondola over the forest canopy, 6 minutes from lake to city — an optional way down for those who want the views without the legs
  • The descent — a rewarding, long roll back through the park and into the Vake neighbourhood, with Tbilisi spreading out below you
  • Panoramic views — at the lake you're looking out over the Mtatsminda ridge and the Caucasus foothills — the city feels a world away

Best for: intermediate riders and anyone who wants to see where Tbilisi residents actually spend their Sundays.

Bevreti climb — Trialeti Ridge above Tbilisi Lisi Lake finish — 50km Bevreti loop from Tbilisi

No shuttles. No shortcuts. This is 50km of pure pedaling from Tandro's location, straight into the Trialeti Range and back via Lisi Lake. You climb to the ridge, ride the spine of the hills with the Caucasus on one horizon and the entire Tbilisi valley on the other, cross the open plateau, and finish at the lake. One of the few operators in Georgia offering this full loop start-to-finish on a bike.

Route Breakdown

  • The City Exit & The Climb — Tbilisi pavement ends fast. The air changes as you grind toward the village of Bevreti — a solid climb that trades city noise for mountain silence
  • The Trialeti Ridge — The highlight of the day. Riding the spine between Mskhaldidi and Mukhattskaro with the Caucasus Mountains on your left and the full Tbilisi valley spread out on your right
  • The High Plateau — Fast gravel and rugged shepherd paths across open plateau tracks, past the Bevreti Monastery area, before the long descent begins
  • The Finish at Lisi — The 50km loop closes at Lisi Lake. Victory lap around the water, cold drink, then the roll back into Tbilisi
  • MTB or E-bike — 600m+ of climbing on high-spec MTBs, or Bosch/Yamaha-powered E-bikes with full eco mode for those who want the challenge dialled back. Your call
  • Local Intelligence — These trails are a maze of Soviet tracks and grazing paths. We know the exact lines. You follow the guide, not a confusing offline map

50km · 5–6 hours · 600m+ elevation · Mixed asphalt, gravel, dirt ridgelines. High fitness required — book an E-bike if you're not a regular climber.
